We at SPUG believe in the importance of privacy to our regular visitors and are committed to protecting that privacy. The following describes what kinds of information are collected as well as the ways in which they are processed.

What information do we collect?

  • Every time you visit SPUG, NetStats (a 3rd party hits collector) and the SPUG server will capture non-personally identifiable information about you, such as the server your computer is logged onto, your browser type, the website from where you came from (if this is applicable). Take note that this system of data aggregation does not collect any personally-identifiable information about you, such as your name, address, phone number or e-mail address nor does it link the website where you're coming from to your e-mail address or your personal information.
  • When you register as a member of SPUG, we collect your name, e-mail address, and other information relating to demographics.
  • When you post at our Forums, the IP address of your ISP will be taken note of. However, this information will not be totally revealed to the rest of the readers after you've completed your contribution; only the generalised infomation will be revealed, for example, singnet.com.sg, nus.edu.sg, mystarhub.com.sg and so on.

How do we use this information?

  • We do not sell nor share any sort of personalized information we collect with any third party. The aggregated information that we do have are for demographics analysis only, for example to see which age group is predominant among our members.

What about cookies?

  • A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user.Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site.Currently, cookies are only mandatory (for technical reasons) if you're using our offers at the Marketplace section. Cookies are also used at the Forums. If you enable your cookies, you will be able to discern which are the new posts in the Forum, thereby saving time while on our site. If you turn off your cookies, the Forum is still completely usable.
